Crawling the MusicMoz Categories

MusicSpider is a tool to list all the categories in a particular MusicMoz category tree. You can optionally list the editors, check the existence of descriptions and show any cooled sites for each category, too.

To use, enter the category name in almost any format: slash-separated, colon-separated or a complete URL. Enter the depth to descend. The Upward crawl will go towards Top and collect editors along the way, in which case Depth is ignored. Links (except further crawls) will be opened in the selected target.
Select if you want editors/descriptions to be listed or cool sites to be spidered. Checking CoolSpider also activates the editor/description check. The number of unreviewed/green sites can be counted (for the moment by calling Nurey's ViewUnrev tool), and the number of RoboErrors/red sites can be counted (for the moment by dynamically adding and delting @links). If you checkmark the GreenSpider option, only category branches containing green or red sites will actually be shown. Please note that unreviewed information is for editors only, so MusicSpider will do a login check before any green data are shown. In this case you need your browser to support JavaScript.
The category listing is created in real time from live ODP data. Especially with Depth=1 and no Editor Listing, the and scroll buttons allows you to use MusicSpider as an interactive index to the ODP categories. The [check] button allows you to check the links of the category with my LinkSpider tool. The [add] button will activate Cpt. Ginyu's Multilink Adder for the category. The [logs] button allows you to access the varous category logs. The somewhat experimental [update] button will update the public interface by forcing an altlang update. Guess what the [edit] button does?
If you only want an overview of the category tree / cool sites without all the action buttons, submit the crawl with the Keep It Simple button. Selecting editor listing / cool sites / green options will slow down the spider in all downward crawls, as another sublevel of categories has to be read to find the extra information.
After the tree generation has finished you can DeMozulate all categories with one click.

Submitting with the List All Editors button will show all editors in the category and below. The list shows editors from the latest RDF dump, so it may be a week or so out of date. The information is extracted from TheSeeker's Editor Watch tool.
This is a server based tool, programmed in PHP3. Please do not request huge category trees as this will put an unreasonable strain on my server. You can always interrupt the crawler by clicking on the MusicSpider.
